slephy was created by Joe Soeller, born and raised in California.
slephy is a nickname given to me (Joe) by a childhood buddy/neighbor. He took my name, Joseph, dropped the “Jo”, called me “seph”, then “sephy”, then over time he felt it wasn’t interesting enough, so he added an “l” after the “s”, hence “slephy”. He died of cancer before reaching adulthood. RIP Rocky.
The tools produced are simply a way to refine certain parts of the game-creation workflow. Animating in Blender is pretty good, but the standard workflow around IK/FK switching is terribly sluggish, and seeing that I’m determined to make a lot of clean animations with precise footwork, I wanted something that actually supports the IK/FK switching workflow and pivoting. Without good tools in that area, quality footwork tends to be sacrificed for sloppier animation. If I don’t have control over a part of the artistic workflow, then I’m going to find a way to avoid it. The Kinematic Tool is a response to that problem.
